Ask your vet to clarify EXACTLY what a fecal test can tell you.  We have heard many horse owners claim that their horse is worm free due to the fact that they have had a negative fecal test done.  People have even gone up to 2 years not worming their horse because of this misleading test.

FECAL TESTS CAN DETERMINE ONLY 1 THING:    The egg count.

 

FECAL TESTS CANNOT TELL YOU WHETHER THE EGGS ARE DEAD OR ALIVE

A HIGH EGG COUNT INDICATES:

1) that you are killing the parasites and the eggs OR 2)  that your horse is loaded with parasites and eggs.
